What to do in London when it rains?
Today I was meaning to publish a post on another walk to do in London. That was until I unlocked my phone this morning and checked the weather forecast. ‘You can’t be serious right?!’ were my thoughts straight away. The forecast is rain all week long.

So, change of plans. I owe you the post of the London walk, and for now instead, I have collected a few ideas on how to get through this week without having to lock yourself up in your house. Because London has way too much to offer. Rain or shine!
Here are the 5 best things to do when it rains in London.
1. Hide from London rain at a museum
One of the best things about London is that most museums are admission free. This means that you can stay as long as you want, visit as many as you want and explore everything from 16th century art, to the world of science to everything that has to do about nature. All in one day if that is what you are aiming for! This is where you can hide from London rain.

2. When it rains in London, go shopping
Probably not the cheapest option if you are on a budget, but London has some great shopping possibilities. Everything from the high street on Oxford Street and the Westfield shopping centers, to more specialized shops and boutiques. Or what about going on a book hunt in one of London’s independent bookshops? For the foodies, Borough Market is a definite place to make a stop. A bonus is that the market is mostly covered. Great to spend some hours if it rains in London.

3. Go for a pub brunch
All that shopping makes a man (or woman) hungry. If there is one thing that I have learned from living in London is that going to the pub for brunch is a must. With over 7,2000 pubs to choose from in London, there ought to be something around you like. Especially on Saturday and Sunday mornings the pubs are filled with people enjoying their boozy, bottomless and avocado-rich brunches.
4. Visit a theatre or take a theatre tour when it rains in London
Oh the theatre. What would we (expat-) Londoners do without it? Seeing a West-End show is on top of everyone’s list, but there is so much more out there to enjoy. Small-sized plays in local theatres, contemporary dance shows and comedy, there are way too many categories to mention here. Or maybe you want to take it a step further and take a backstage tour of a famous London venue?

5. Take a local bus tour
Yes, there are plenty of bus tours around for sightseeing. However, if you are on a budget, this might not always be suitable. Instead, hop on a local bus and see the city ‘as a local.’ For only £1.50 you can explore town from a warm and dry bus.
Bus 15 is my personal favourite, because the route from Tower Hill to Trafalgar Square is being operated by a heritage Routemaster. For your transport to the Museums, take bus 14 as it will take you all the way down to South Kensington, passing department store Harrods on its way. And finally, if you are a fan of the City and all its ancient buildings, take bus 100 from Tower to Blackfriars.
