2015 overview

2015 What a year!

2015 marks a year of major personal and professional changes, with the move to London in November being the absolute highlight.

2015 started with London

The year started with (surprise, surprise) a visit to London back in January. A combination of visiting highlights with completely new experiences, such as a a visit to the ‘jungle-fied’ St Dunstan in the East, a bike ride through west London and a walk through Chelsea and Battersea. Another discovery I loved was St Katharine Docks, the hidden gem right next to the Tower of London.

A game of peek-a-boo with the Tower Bridge.

Do as the Locals Do

Every year, including 2015, I love to discover more about my home country. This inspired me to start the guest blog series ‘Do as the Locals Do.’ Today, on the last day of 2015, there are over 15 guest posts written by travelers and bloggers from all over the world. The series is a chance to get a unique local insight into worldwide destinations. From New York to Singapore and from Hamburg in Germany to Atacama in Chile. Inspiring? Definitely!

Did Castle De Haar made me feel like being a Disney Princess? Admittedly… Yes

Taking a trip to the romantic Middle Rhine Valley

Easter came early in April this year, and the weather forecast promised us a wonderful weekend. So we decided to take the camping gear out and we headed to the Middle Rhine Valley in Germany. This romantic region runs from Bingen to Bonn and all the way to Koblenz.

Who could get tired of the sight of these typical kind of houses? I for one can’t.

London again? Really?

Merely a few weeks later, I was on my way again to London. This time not to visit only this city, but Cardiff and Windsor as well. A weekend well spent!

Finally back on the road again!

Between Spring and Summer, day trips were all I could do, since I was busy graduating for my master’s degree. The travel bug ‘annoyed’ me constantly though and I couldn’t have been any happier with the fact that I still had some travels to look forward to. Starting with a busy weekend in Budapest in the Summer. All about the most famous spa resort, a bike tour and the Ruin Pubs.

NOW on the blog: a photo essay of the gorgeous Széchenyi Baths in Budapest

Life changing experiences

Finally, the time was there. I graduated! And a few days after Graduation Day, I hopped on a plane to Rome for an intensive language course. The time I spent there turned out to be one of the best times of my life! Being able to live in the most charming part of town, seeing all those stunning day – and night views (for free!), and a visit to the Pope’s Summer Residence to finish it all off.

It’s almost impossible to grasp all that beauty in this amazing city! #Rome

A mother-daughter trip to Barcelona

Another city break was right around the corner. Barcelona being the destination this time. A special mother-daughter midweek, right before my big move to London.

The big move

And then the day finally arrived. I found a job and exchanged the Netherlands for London, England. But I wouldn’t be me if I wouldn’t make some visits a few days before starting my new job in Richmond. A small road trip took us to Oxford and the charming town of Turville.

Doesn’t Oxford look romantic in this photo?

The most important change of this year without a doubt was the move to England. Currently I’m building up my life in South West London and enjoy everything this exciting city has on offer.

Beautiful colors on my Saturday morning run!

Magnificent views you will definitely get from the Sky Garden. And the best bit? It’s free to visit!
